Best Coffee Shops in London: The Complete 2026 Guide
London's coffee scene transformed in the 2010s when a generation of Australian and New Zealand baristas arrived and introduced the city to what a properly made flat white could taste like. What followed was a decade of genuine specialty coffee development that has produced one of the deepest coffee cultures in the world.
Shoreditch and Hackney
Shoreditch remains the center of London's specialty coffee gravity. Nude Espresso, Climpson and Sons, and Ozone Coffee Roasters are all in this part of East London. The density of excellent options means you rarely have to walk more than a few minutes to find something worth drinking. Hackney, just north, carries the same energy with slightly less tourist traffic.
Bermondsey and Peckham
South London's coffee scene is anchored by Monmouth Coffee's Borough Market location and the cluster of excellent shops that have followed the neighborhood's broader transformation. Peckham, in particular, has developed a coffee culture that feels native rather than imported.
Soho and Brixton
Soho's coffee is constrained by its real estate but reward the hunters. Flat White on Berwick Street is worth the pilgrimage. Brixton has a coffee scene that reflects its character: varied, genuine, and not particularly interested in being fashionable.
