Kai Bar Coffee Roasters lives on Ala Namahana Parkway in Kilauea, the third Java Kai outpost on Kauai alongside the Kapaa and Old Koloa Town rooms. Java Kai has been roasting on island since the 1990s, on a Diedrich hand-built in Sandpoint, Idaho, with green coming in and fresh batches running four to five days a week out of the Kauai Jungle Roastery. The bean list reads like a surf trip: Single Fin Espresso, 100% Kauai Peaberry, The Darkness, Surfer Blend, EL GATO 50/50, Swiss Water Decaf. The Kilauea room opens at 6 and runs to 5, which means dawn-patrol traffic followed by lighthouse visitors. Pastries and breakfast bagels come from the same kitchen. Order the Single Fin Espresso latte if you want what the surfers order on the way north. Order the 100% Kauai Peaberry if you came because someone told you Java Kai is the move.
