Compass Coffee on K Street NW opened in October 2019 on the ground floor of the Washington Post building, one of the dozen cafes co-founders Michael Haft and Harrison Suarez built up after launching Compass in Shaw in 2014. Both founders served as Marines before opening the roastery. The Shaw facility still anchors the roasting program. Hours run weekdays only. Order an espresso if you came for the in-DC roast Haft and Suarez built the company around. Order a drip if you are walking K Street and want a Compass cup before the next stop.
