COFFEE GUIDE
Golden Latte
Turmeric, ginger, black pepper, and steamed milk. No caffeine. Anti-inflammatory.
WHAT IT IS
A golden latte (also called a turmeric latte or golden milk) is a warm drink made from turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, and steamed milk. It is caffeine-free. The black pepper is essential: it activates curcumin, the active compound in turmeric, by up to 2,000%.
HOW IT IS MADE
A golden milk paste or powder (turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, sometimes coconut oil) is combined with hot milk. The pepper and fat help the body absorb the turmeric. Sweetened with honey or maple syrup.
WHAT IT TASTES LIKE
Warm, earthy, spiced, and slightly peppery. The turmeric is the dominant note, with ginger and cinnamon supporting. Can taste medicinal if poorly balanced, or genuinely pleasant when well-made.
WHEN TO ORDER IT
When you want a caffeine-free hot drink with substance. For evening drinking without sleep disruption. For those sensitive to caffeine who still want something warm and interesting at a cafe.
